The Bloomfield Municipal Youth Guidance Council will sponsor its 5th Annual Youth Job Fair to link teenagers with employers for part time, full time and summer jobs.

The fair is open to all Bloomfield residents ages 16 - 19.

BMYGC Chairman Gary Iacobacci said, “The job fair is another tool in our arsenal  to keep our teens occupied and out of trouble.”

The fair will be held Thursday, April 10, from 6 - 8:00 PM, at the Bloomfield High School cafeteria.

.

Those who attend are asked to dress appropriately and bring with them at least 20 resumes. For assistance with resumes and tips on how to land a job, students are urged to click on the Resources for Job Seekers link, or contact Mrs. Todaro, their English teacher or guidance counselor.

Participants should prepare to be interviewed at the fair and possibly hired on the spot.

Iacobacci continued, “This is the fifth year we are holding the job fair. Every year we place as many teens as possible into full time, part time and summer jobs. Of course there are never enough jobs to satisfy the demand. However, this year we hope to exceed previous years' placements.

This is a win/win proposition for everyone.

By hiring Bloomfield youth, area businesses will save the cost of placing classified ads and the time of conducting separate interviews. Our community benefits by virtue of the fact that the job fair helps keep our local economy strong. At the same time, by participating in the workforce, our young people will gain maturity, responsibility, occupational and technical skills and the value of a dollar. These valuable life lessons lessons will bring them one step closer to adulthood.”

Businesses that have part time, full time or summer jobs available are asked to go to our contact us page, click on the Employers link, fill out  the form and send it to submit your available jobs, and/or reserve your space at the job fair.
