RAMP PARK GRAND OPENING A SMASH

The Joseph F. Tiseo II Ramp Park At Memorial Park opened on Saturday, November 22, 2008. The 24 degree weather did not deter the hundreds of people who came out to be a part of the ceremony and subsequent ribbon cutting.

The 9,000 sq. ft. outdoor park, the site of a former miniature golf course that was dormant for some 13 years boasts custom made wooden ramps and according to the experts is "a very competition worthy park with an excellent flow."

Attractions include; 5ft. quarter pipe with an 8ft extension / small pyramid with a rail and box / two different height manual pad/box 8-10 inches and 12-14 inches / 5 ft. quarter pipe / 4 ft. quarter pipe / large pyramid with a rail / 5ft. spine /  5ft. mini ramp that has a bank off of it leading to the pyramid.

During the ceremony, Councilwoman Janice Maly (Youth Guidance Council Liaision) presented a proclamation to Anita Killian (mother of professional BMX biker Joseph Tiseo who died in a motorcycle accident in 2001 and for whom the park is named. The proclamation declared Saturday, November 22, 2008 as "Joseph F. Tiseo II Day" throughout the Township of Bloomfield.

There were many other speakers during the ceremonies including; Youth Guidance Council Chairman Gary Iacobacci, Essex county Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, Freeholder Ralph Caputo, Mayor Ray McCarthy, Recreation Director Anthony Nesto, Recreation Commission Chairman Carmine Guinta and Ralph Sinisi who was Tiseo's best friend.

Other dignitaries in attendance included: Councilwoman Pat Spychala, Councilwoman Pat Ritchings, Councilwoman Pat Barker, Councilman Bernard Hamilton, Councilman Elect Nick Joanow, Councilman Elect Robert Ruane, Township Administrator Louise Palagano, Township Engineer Paul Lasek, Essex County Freeholder Donald Payne Jr., Bloomfield Board of Recreation Commissioners Sabina O'Brien, Barbara Francisco and Anthony Todaro, Demarest School Principal Mary Todaro, Youth Guidance Council Members and Advisors: Teri Gailoto, Nicole Rambone, Francesca "Frankie" Galioto, Laura Abendschoen, Giovanna Pensiero and many others.
